The Top of Michigan Festival of Races is making its return to Petoskey in May, offering a day of competition and community spirit for runners and walkers alike.
Hosted by 4Front Credit Union, the event is scheduled for May 23 at Bayfront Park. Participants can choose from a half marathon, 5K, or 10K, with routes winding along the Little Traverse Wheelway and through Petoskey State Park, according to a community announcement.

Race director Becca Nelson noted that the event has become a local staple, attracting nearly 500 participants last year. “People love to walk and run along the shores of Lake Michigan, and what better place to do it than on one of the most beautiful and popular recreational trails in the Midwest?” Nelson said.
Proceeds from the races will benefit the Top of Michigan Trails Council, as well as the Petoskey High School track and cross country teams.
While same-day registration is available, early sign-up is encouraged. The deadline to receive a t-shirt with registration is May 12.
