FC Porto have officially confirmed the permanent signing of Jakub Kiwior after activating the purchase option in his loan agreement. The Portuguese club will pay €17 million for the Polish centre-back, with an additional €5 million in performance-related add-ons. Kiwior has signed a four-year contract running until June 2030 and is protected by a €70 million release clause.
Arsenal, who loaned the 26-year-old defender to Porto at the start of the season, will retain a 2% sell-on clause from any future transfer, as detailed in the statement released by the newly crowned Portuguese champions. It is worth recalling that Porto had already paid €2 million to secure the loan last summer.
In terms of the transfer fee involved, Kiwior becomes the seventh most expensive signing in FC Porto’s history. However, if all the add-ons agreed with Arsenal are achieved, the Polish international would rank second on that list. The full top 10 can be found in the image below. 
Since arriving at the Dragão, Kiwior has made 38 official appearances for FC Porto. Although he has not scored yet, he has registered two assists and has been a key pillar in Francesco Farioli’s squad that recently celebrated winning the Portuguese League.
