Snuggle Wool

Snuggle Wool™ is the trademark of the soft, pure, wool fleece which is a fully washable one-inch deep lambswool pile used by Rittenhouse Industries. The wool, from the Merino sheep, is sliver-knit to a polyester backing and processed to withstand gentle machine washing. Snuggle Wool™ products are designed for the baby to lie directly on the soft, deep pile lambswool.

Snuggle Wool™ pads are made from 100% pure, fine wool from the Merino sheep that has been hygienically scoured and treated to allow frequent machine washing and drying. The sliver knit fleece retains all of the natural qualities of sheepskin (including absorption of moisture vapor, softness and cushioning) without requiring that the animal give its life.

Medical studies at Cambridge University have shown that lambswool pads have a soothing, swaddling effect on babies, resulting in better sleep, reduced stress, greater contentment and improved weight gain. Studies showing similar results have also been reported in the BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL, LANCET, and THE AUSTRALIAN MEDICAL JOURNAL.

Researchers find when babies lay directly on lambswool, their activity rate is lowered producing a deeper, more restful sleep and promoting a faster growth rate. This is especially beneficial for premature and low birth-weight babies. Hospitals in England, Australia, and New Zealand have used lambswool pads to line their incubators for many years.  Adults also report more comfortable and restful sleep when using Snuggle Wool mattress pads even when covered with a sheet.

What is MediWool?

MediWool pads for the health care and home health care markets are made from 100% pure Merino wool. In our Minnesota shop, we make bed pads designed to reduce the risk and severity of pressure sores and other health concerns of the temporarily or permanently bedridden.

MediWool is the mark of the soft, pure, fleece pads which are fully washable one-inch deep pile lambswool. The wool is hygienically scoured and treated with Superwash to allow frequent machine washing and drying. The backed fleece retains all of the natural qualities of sheepskin (including absorption of moisture vapor, softness and cushioning) without requiring that the animal give its life. These products are especially versatile due to their ease of washability, unlike the sheepskin which may dry out and crack
